Take advantage of our selection of diamond inserts

You can choose between three diffrent diamond types from our catalog. For more information about your chosen diamond type, click on one of the type buttons.

The areas of application of PCD diamond are:

  • Aluminium <10%Si
  • Copper/tungsten copper
  • Brass
  • Composite materials such as CFRP/ GFRP
  • Graphite
  • PEEK

CVD-Thickfilm Diamond is ideally suited for processing highly abrasive materials such as:

  • Aluminium >10%
  • Plexiglass
  • Copper/ Tungsten copper
  • Glass- and Glass ceramic
  • Carbide G-type >12% Co
  • Carbide K-type >15% Co
  • Titanum (Finishing operations)
  • Any abrasive non-ferrous materials
  • Other hard, brittle non-ferrous materials

UltraDiamond is successfully used for processing:

  • Carbide G-Sorte <12%
  • Co Carbide K-type >7%Co
  • Carbide with Ni Binder
  • Glass- and Glass ceramic
  • Quartz glass
  • Other hard, brittle non-ferrous materials

Diamond indexable inserts

Diamond indexable inserts are used where carbide cutting materials reach their limits. The cutting tools from DTS are particularly suitable for abrasive materials such as carbide, ceramics or glass fiber and carbon-reinforced plastics.

Another field of application for diamond tools is the machining of aluminum. PCD is suitable for less than 12% silicon, while CVD is used as the cutting material for higher silicon content.

Overview of diamond indexable inserts

Diamond cutting materials are divided into 3 groups:

  • PCD
  • CVD-D
  • UltraDiamond

All diamond cutting materials are manufactured using laser technology.
The advantages of lasering over grinding are:

  • Better cutting edge quality
  • Diamond crystals are cut through, not torn out of the structure.
  • 20 - 30% longer service life with lasered cutting edges.
  • We can process harder diamonds
  • No use of cooling lubricant in the manufacture of diamond cutting inserts
  • 2D & 3D geometries possible
  • Smallest inner radii possible (from 20µ)

PCD

PCD - polycrystalline diamond is very suitable for machining aluminum with a Si content of up to 12% and/or other abrasive fillers. The hot hardness is approx. 750°C. The areas of application are similar to those of CVD thick-film diamond, but the high cost-effectiveness of CVD thick-film comes into play with hard-brittle materials or aluminum with a Si content of 12% or more.

PCD inserts are ideal for machining:

  • Aluminum <12%Si
  • Zinc
  • Brass
  • Plastics
  • Copper
  • Coarse-grained graphite
  • Ceramic green compact
  • Carbide green compact

CVD-D

The CVD thick-film diamond coating is characterized by high hardness and high wear resistance. These properties make CVD-D the perfect cutting material for cutting abrasive materials. If CVD-D is used correctly, the tool life can be increased by a factor of 10 (or more) compared to PCD!

CVD-D inserts are ideally suited for the machining of:

  • Aluminum >10%Si
  • GFRP
  • CFRP
  • MMC
  • Carbide >8% Co
  • Tungsten copper
  • Tungsten
  • Graphite fine-grained
  • Magnesium

UltraDiamond

Laser-segmentation technology is used to laser-cut monocrystalline elements for tool cutting corners from diamond blanks in a defined orientation. This new technology makes it possible to solder a monocrystal (UltraDiamond) onto any tool carrier under high vacuum in addition to the highly hard polycrystalline cutting materials such as PCD and CVD-D. Compared to PCD, the tool life can be increased by a factor of approx. 15-25 and CVD-D by a factor of approx. 2-5.

UltraDiamant inserts are ideal for machining:

  • Carbide <10% Co
  • Ceramics
  • Glass ceramic
  • Highly abrasive and brittle materials
